16 of us recently experienced the first of 3 of our International Food & Wine Tours for the year 2017…all of which are SOLD OUT! The Region of Puglia played Host to me and my foodie friends for 12 days. It was a perfect mix of food, wine, history, culture, glorious weather and friendly locals!

Every time I arrive in Italy it feels like returning to visit an old, dear friend. And when I bring my clients with me….? I am like a Mother watching her kids open their Christmas gifts! I get to see many North Americans experience Italy for the first time. Others have been to Italy, but have never ventured off the beaten path. It’s a whole new experience for them and a joy to be a part of.

This last Food & Wine experience in Puglia was an updated itinerary from previous years. My tour partners, Maxima Tours/ Exclusively Malta helped us capture all that Puglia is known for in terms of food & wine along with all the history and culture. We experienced 2 cooking classes, Burrata cheese making, Altamura bread making, a winery, an olive oil producer and a gelato class. We visited Bari, Giovinazzo, Andria, Trani, Matera (Basilicata), Alberobello, Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Lecce, Ostuni and Brindisi. We ate and drank all the finest food and wine that Puglia had to offer… Keep in mind that Puglia is the number 1 domestic travel destination for a reason. We were travelling like the Italians to their favourite destinations….

The accommodations were unique, small, intimate lodgings…a converted Monastery, Trulli and a renovated Palazzo! Using only local, English speaking guides we had the inside scoop on where to go and why! With only 16 of us, it was like travelling with friends…impromptu get together’s and plenty of stories to take home.

We love to take clients off the beaten path to experience the food and wine of the Mediterranean like a local. We will offer The Taste of Puglia again in the Spring of 2018. We will be taking 2 groups to Sicily & Malta this Fall to experience their food & wine. And next Fall (2018) we will be offering a Taste of Calabria….very excited as this is my ancestral region!
